The Anthology and Poetic Musings

Carsarians™ Series

Before he was recognized as Saint Francis of Assisi, he was known as Francesco Bernardone.  He lived in Assisi, Italy from 1182 to 1226.  During the last 22 years of his life, he dedicated himself to helping others who were in need of food, clothing, and shelter.  But most importantly, he bestowed upon those who he helped with caring, tolerance and love.

The Anthology and Poetic Musings captures in photographs some of the scenes out of Francesco’s life after he made a commitment to helping others.  These scenes reflect some of the emotional challenges he encountered as he lived in self-inflicted poverty.  Those who loved him, including two of his best friends, Sister Clare and Brother Leo, supported his dedication to a difficult lifestyle.

Imbedded in the photographs and the poetic musings are clues to solving the location of the Mask of Assisi.

Lorenzos’ technique and process on how he designed The Anthology and Poetic Musings photographs

Over a period of two days, Lorenzo directed the photography of 10 unique scenes of the life of Francesco Bernardone (Saint Francis of Assisi). The team included a make-up artist, costumes, props, lighting coordinator, prop coordinator, camera operator, 7 actors, and the use of Athena Studios located in Oakland California. This time-lapse video represents 6 hours of the 16-hour photo shoot.

Photographic Collection

The Anthology and Poetic Musings tells the story of Francesco Bernardone.  The collection consists of 10 photographs that have clues imbedded within that contribute the Mask Trilogy Adventure Game.

The artist, Lorenzo, reimagined the life of Francesco during the time Francesco characterized as the “Privilege of Poverty”. Unlike many of the portrayals of Saint Francis over the centuries, Lorenzo felt that Francesco was living in extreme poverty and would not had been able to groom himself as reflected in past paintings and drawings.

Many of the photographs reflect the emotional moments associated with this period of time for Francesco including the fear of isolation, the energy of defiance, the humility of penitence, the moment of inspiration, the seduction of temptation, the desire of self-reflection and many more.

Poetic Musings

When Francesco Bernardone returned from being imprisoned after fighting in the battle with the Perugians in 1203, he began to question all aspects of his life.  He was lost in knowing where his life was going.  His entitled past and predetermined life by his father was no longer of interest to him. He needed to find a reason to live.

These Poetic Musings are imaginations of some of the possible thoughts that Francesco may have written as he searched to find his way.  Most of the musings are based on a story narrative, but some are based on pure fantasy and riddles.

Within many of the musings are clues associated with The Mask Trilogy Adventure Game
